Description
To address this issue, the Joint Project Manager for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Protection (JPM CBRN P), a component of the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND), provides the Department of Defense (DoD) with the protection required to effectively conduct active combat, consequence management, and homeland defense operations in Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) environments. The JPM CBRN P is conducting work under the Contaminated Human Remains System (CHRS) – Contaminated Human Remains Transfer Case (CHRT) program to mitigate Mortuary Affairs (MA) Operations Initial Capabilities Document (ICD) – Capability Gap #4, which states; “MA units are incapable of transporting previously contaminated human remains (CHRs) and personnel equipment from a [Theatre Mortuary Evacuation Point (TMEP)] to final destination without posing additional risks to the handlers and environment.”
This CHRT production agreement is a follow-on production effort under an Other Transactional Authority (OTA) agreement with the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) Consortium agreement number “CWMD-1808- 005 Contaminated Human Remains Transfer Case;” as prescribed under the CWMD Consortium agreement award number W15QKN-18-9-1004.
